Picked up a 2000 xcr 120. Missing brake parts and needs carb rebuild. The previous owner gave me the stock chain, gear and pipe. He said it has the kit to go faster. 1) is the stock clutch used with this set up? If like to replace clutch so I need to know if the stock clutch is ok. 2) can I just remove the spring on the governor to slow it down while my daughter learns how to ride it? It has the stock spring and the spring that is used to go faster. 3) I'm missing the piece that holds the brake cable onto the brake. It is a pin with a hole for the cable to go through and it has a set screw to hold it. Also missing the spring and the brake cable is broke and cut. I'd like to change it to the newer style that just uses a pin and the brake cable has an eye at the end that connects to the pin on the brake.

Removing the spring on the governor would make it go faster. Leave the governor alone. You must take it out completely, the plastic gear on the inside of engine when you want to disconnect the governor. As for the clutch, there are two different type of shoes used in a clutch --wedge shoes are in a stock clutch and a lighter shoe when they want to bring up the engagement. What color is the spring in the clutch?? Green is the stock spring with the wedge shoes, a black spring is a higher engagement spring normally used with the lighter shoes but could also be used with the wedge shoes.
