Interesting thing here today, Just came back from a GLX race, a customer broke a rod in a Champ, not a very common problem. Talking with him while he was changing the engine, I asked about which oil he was using. He said 4T. Something odd here, the engine was fresh. I had him get me the oil, clearly marked Castrol 4T. I read the label, this is a 4 stroke motorcycle oil, non syn. oil Petroleum based made for a pump/filter type system. He was under the impression that "4T" was some type of rating, and any oil market 4T, was the same. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. With Amsoil, 4T is just its name, it is a joint venture with Briggs and from concept, designed to be the very best small engine 4 cycle oil made for racing. Amsoil 4T, is the best you can get, the only oil we recommend, and apparently there are other oils out there called 4T, but not remotely the same. be careful what you get.
