Hi everyone-
New to the site here, and new to owning a 120. I recently bought a 2002 XC120 for my son, and he was finaly able to ride yesterday. What a treat to see him on the thing. I noticed a noise coming from the chain side of the maching while he was in motion. I have talked to another guy that has one and he said it was normal. It doesnt seem normal to me. This sled is in excellent shape, so i dont know where to begin. Does anyone have any ideas for me. I look forward to hearing your replies.

Look over the chain and the clutch closely, If they haven been taken care of thats where I'd expect to see a problem. Take out the bolt holding the clutch on, it should slide off, The drum comes off with a simple snap ring. Look it over and let us know

Make sure the chain doesn't use a half link to connect it. First thing I would do is replace the chain. Over time chain will stretch and get too sloppy. That would be the first thing I would do. Are you running #35 chain or #420 or #40 chain?
Lift the track off the ground and support the sled. With the hood open look in as you give it gas and see if you can see excess movement where you seem to be hearing the noise. There could be some alignment issues between the clutch sprocket and the rear sprocket. Take some pictures and send them to me. Tell me how many teeth on the clutch sprocket and the rear sprocket. jim@maxtorque.com
